Hi:

I just did something really stupid - I uninstalled Amarok, without first backing up my collection (I was using SQLite), which contained ratings for like 1000's of songs.  I only realized all my ratings were gone after I reinstalled (I am now using MySQL).  Please, does anyone know how to get my ratings back?

I noticed a directory called 'undo' in the Amarok folder that's filled with XML files, would those help?

Thanks in advance,

If you've deleted your collection database, then it's gone. Unless you've backed it up elsewhere you're just going to have to start again.
If you still have a file ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/collection.db then you might be able to extract the ratings information using sqlite tools, but I suspect that's a masterclass.

Hey:

I was looking around, and I found these xml files in an amarok folder whose names were all numbers (i.e., 17.xml, 20.xml, etc.).  It seems these may be regular back-ups that Amarok creates.  I looked through, at it appears to have some ratings information in there I will try to extract it from these files.

Cheers,
LK

afaik those are playlist backups for the undo/redo menu item.
