I have a music collection on this PC, but I have just managed to get this PC on the network, where I can access my much lager music collection, is it possible to avoid having duplications in some way? So that if the song exists on this PC, don't add it from the network?

I'd say no. Maybe the wisest solution would be synchronizing both computers, or add from only one. There are several topics which cover that problem.
