Hey
After installing 1.4.7 , my amarok appends to my playlist instead of just playing when i double click a mp3 file in my filemanager , how do I change this behavior ? /pej |

http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Tips_and_Tricks says that if you want to turn append as the default mode, you have to do...
It's very simple. Open up your ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc with a text editor, like Vim, Nano, Kate or Kwrite, find the section named "[General]" and add an entry there: AppendAsDefault=true So changing it to "false" should solves it. I have tried it on my computer with the expected behaviour.

AppendAsDefault=false works as it does on my machine. Start amarok from the console and see what it gives, maybe it was a typo or something. Make sure you are adding it to the [General] section. I have my general section as you can see on http://p.caboo.se/120920 . Using Amarok v1.4.7?

Try modifying amarok launch command using "-p" option.
Mine was "amarok %U", and I replaced it by "amarok -p %U", and now it works fine like as it used to, eg when clicking on a music file, it adds it to the playlist and start playing it. Regards. |

Sorry to hijack this. This is something that's really bugging me about amarok, and I can't get it to change via either of the above methods. (using 1.4.7 as well on Kubuntu Gutsy). Any other suggestions?

Another way of achieving it is to edit your /usr/share/applications/kde/amarok.desktop file: modify the line
Exec=amarok %U to Exec=amarok -p %U Then it should automatically append files. |

I don't know what it is about my installation, but none of those options have worked. It seems that something is causing the -p flag to not trigger, or do whatever it's supposed to do. Perhaps it has something to do with other options I have changed? I'm not very familiar with Linux yet, so if you think that it'd help to uninstall/reinstall or wipe settings, then please tell me how to do so. Thanks for the help!

Xiong, what is it exactly that you're doing. Running Amarok from Konqueror, from a console, what?

I've tried running it from a console window (amarok -p %U), from the whatever you call it down by the K (similar to quick launch in windows) and from the desktop (with the modified command as above).

just to be clear, when you're running amarok from the command line, make sure you put a music track instead of %U - for example:
amarok -p mysong.mp3 the %U is a wildcard used when you use a .desktop file to launch amarok.
