Distorted Album Art

Fri Nov 30, 2007 5:48 am
Okay, let us begin. I have my music collection hosted on my Windows XP box (as I am on a laptop that doesn't even have a hard drive as big as the collection) but I have it set up as a read only mount on Ubuntu. I set up a Collection to my mount point, it went through all that jazz, and then once it was finally done, everything loaded just fine, except the album art!

The program I use to do the id3 tag editting in Windows is mp3tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/), all the tags are id3v2 utf-8. The album art is in the mp3 themselves (I find it easier when backing up, a more permanent solution). So if someone could help me out with a solution to this issue, that would be fabulous! I do like the amaroK application quite a bit, though I do admit I am more addicted to Winamp, c'est la vie. Attached is a snapshot of the distortion, I used the Cover Manager inside of amaroK to show that it is not a problem with just one or two albums, but all of them. I must also note that the album art displays fine in the three applications I have tested it with in Windows (Winamp, Windows Media Player 11, and mp3tag)

Sincerely,
Brandon

I'm having exact the same problem. Using Gentoo here. In Amarok the Covers from the ID3v2 tags look like this:

I've been using EasyTag to edit my MP3s. EasyTag shows the covers correctly:

Using Amarok 1.4.7, EasyTag 2.1.3.

Cheers,

fumoffu - If you would like or are still watching this thread, it would be nice to have another person's situation described in the bug database at http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151657 for this particular issue. As it has yet to be resolved, though I have not been tinkering with it myself either for sometime. Though I believe I am going to look for some solutions to this issue tonight. I did also use my Kubuntu CD to test to see if it would work inside of the Amarok off of the liveCD (to make sure it wasn't a configuration issue) and it definitely did not.

C'est la vie. Here is to luck.

what format are the original images? Does it only happen with embedded images? If you assign an image using the amarok cover manager does it still show as corrupt?

Same problem here. Only embedded and all embedded pictures are affected. The source of all pictures, embedded and not embedded is the same, so most likely the format of the pictures is also the same.
Covers assigned via the amarok cover manager are shown correct as well as covers placed in the album folders.

Btw, as I am quite new to the topic: Is it possible to improve the cover manager via scripts? I would like to compare and exchange the images in the folders/files/data base wich currently seems not to be possible.
