Hello, I am looking for some pointers how I can troubleshoot this problem.  I am using Amarok 1.4.7, with xine, using mysql for the backend.

Periodically it hangs.  This then freezes kicker, and so I now have an icon on my desktop that does a killall amarokapp.

The searches I have done suggest recompiling with debug enabled and using gdb to find the cause of the problem, but I thought I would ask here to see if there were alternative approaches - can I get amarok to log its activities for example?  Any troubleshooting tips would be welcome, I am not expecting anyone to be able to provide a solution with such little information.

As an aside, the search function in this forum is interesting - search for "hang" and it matches any word that contains "hang", including the word "change" which probably appears in every single post.  Without an option to state "whole words only".

can't help specifically, but also try searching for terms like 'freeze' 'lock up' and so on.
