Sansa Connect - randomly recognized by Amarok, now it wont connect?

I'm using PCLOS 2007 and KDE, if that is important.

When I hook the Sansa Connect up to the USB port, it doesn't show up anywhere but the hardware manager (where it is listed as both an "Unknown device" and a Scanner).  I was fussing with it for a while last night to try to get Amarok to recognize it, when it all of a sudden popped up, and I was able to synch music to it.  It just happened out of the blue - the screen said "updating software" and poof, there it was in Amarok.

I thought all was good.  I went to load up some more music today, and the option for the device just went away.  Now it wont connect at all.  I tried to set it up fresh, manually, as an MTP device, and when I click "Connect" the screen on the Sansa changes, and it says it is updating folders, song, and album info, but then it just stops, and on Amarok, it says "unable to connect to MTP device".

Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated.  Is there a log or something that will explain *why* it was "unable to connect"?  It seems odd to me, since it *did* connect, at least long enough for the Sansa to say "gathering folder info" on it's screen.  I'm really scratching my head here...

or you could assume that a) noone else has the same problems, b) noone really understood what you meant, c) noone cares, or d) it's a distro prob...

standard answer: have you tried upgrading libmtp and making sure you're using the latest version of amarok?

note that generally, waiting 24 hours for a response is polite...

Alas, my frustration busted through.  Enhanced, perhaps, by the front page, wherein I see nothing with more than 8 replies, and many with zero or one.

Still, I shouldn't have been rude.  You're right.

Yes  - I am still getting the same thing happen though, sadly.  It starts to scan the folders and files and such, then stops, and says "unable to connect to MTP device.

The answer to your question, and most others here is Rhythmbox.
