Hello,
I have downloaded both the sources for amarok 1.4.8 and libgpod. Configured, compiled and installed libgpod no problem.
Than I tried to compile Amarok and I got an error regarding libXext.
This however only happens when ipod support is enabled, I have no problem compiling Amarok using ./configure --without-libgpod.

Has anyone had a similar problem, and how could I go about fixing this?

Thanks

Seems to be a local installation problem: /usr/local/lib/libXext.la was available when some library was installed, but has since been removed. You probably have to reinstall some libs depending on this library before installing libgpod and Amarok.

the libraries are present in the system (ie. locate libXext.la)
but they are in a different location...

maybe try this.
remove amarok & libgpod.
then go for the reconfigure & make & install.

when configuring give them both the same prefix. eg. ./configure --prefix=/usr

I managed to solve the problem:
I did a symlink to both files (libXext.la and libX11.la)  into /usr/local/lib
That took care of the problem.
