Hi

There is an option in Amarok in which you can ask last fm to play randomly artists which are similar to an artist you can enter. Eg if I put in Prince, I expect to play artists that are similar to Prince. Instead, I am offered al kinds of artist that are very unlike prince.

On last.fm this option is also offered, and from there I do get the expected result.

Any suggestions how to make it work from within Amarok like it works from last.fm?

what happens is... amarok fetches a list of suggested songs for the one you're currently playing, then it randomly adds one of those tracks to your playlist.

The big condition here is that the suggested song has to be in your collection. When you use the feature through the last.fm site, are the tracks that you get ones that are also in your collection? I find that I tend to get suggestions on the website that are tracks I don't have.

last.fm's suggestions are based on what *other* people who play prince also play. Weighting is towards artists that more people also listen to.
