Hey people,
I've been having some trouble with amarok and my ipod-shuffle lately; I have two computers at home and I decided to start using the second one with my ipod shuffle. It actually didn't turn out quite well : The first time I plugged the ipod in the second computer, well, there was that known 'not-rebuilding-the-library' issue. I rebuilt the whole libgpod/amarok separately to make sure (using gentoo linux here), but it didn't help, there was then a similar issue with my first computer. So, last measure resort: logged in on windows/itunes and rebuilt an itunes database. The thing is, there is still the same problem with amarok on both computers -but- amarok and the df command now both show that disk space is still being allocated... My first guess should have been to format the whole vfat filesystem, but maybe the ipod firmware is located at the beginning of the eeprom? So my question is: Is my ipod doomed to be disk-space-crippled/windows-only? |

Please make sure that you correctly set your ipod type to 'shuffle' - Amarok will display that at the top of the media browser.
Then you might want to scan for orphans and stale items. |

Thanks for your quick reply,
That did it for my library ![]() So, if I reset the ipod using gtkpod as I've seen on the wiki, will it affect diskspace? If not, is formatting the ipod safe? Thanks again. edit: As I just noticed my ipod didn't have a partition 'per-se', I don't think formatting would actually be a good idea...Suggestions anyone?

Well, I just used the 'restore' function on itunes and even though it formatted it properly (and removing my diskspace issue), itunes wouldn't want to use it anymore (It -did- give me a bit of a scare there), but reinitializing the ipod with amarok recreated the file structure properly.
I'm good to go now ![]() |
