Unable to play WAV files

Thu Jan 17, 2008 3:04 am
Just installed Amarok and cannot play wav files at all. Receive message:
Error Loading Media
No suitable demux plugin. This often means that the file format is not supported.

The same files play OK in other players (e.g., GNOME Media Player, MPlayer).

MP3 files play OK.

Any suggestions?

Sorry, I should have known to put that info in the question.

PCLinuxOS, installed to hard drive from Live CD pclos-gnome-2.21.2.iso, running KDE.

Please let me know if you need more information. I'm a newbie to Linux, trying mightily to wean myself from MS Windows after one insult too many ( a Trojan that took me several days and numerous iterations of every tool at my disposal to get rid of). I'm running PCLOS and Windows XP in dual boot mode, both to test the waters and also because there are a few applications that I (unfortunately) still need Windows for.

Thanks  ...

I've got the same problem on Mandriva 2008.0. Running Amarok 1.4.8 on 1.1.9.1 xine engine. Here's what I see while trying to play a .wav file
