Radio GaGa! (Yo - SOLVED).

Thu Jan 17, 2008 4:09 pm

Hi.

I've just 'found' Amarok and love the options available. However I cannot get it to play radio and I get this error:

"No suitable input plugin".

I have searched the forum/s but have failed to sort this out. I looked at 'Requirements' and I have downloaded a mass of plugins, libs and whatever but still no luck. CD's are fine. Any ideas please - I am using the 'xine' engine?

On Kubuntu 'Gutsy' which rocks!

Thanks

Simply try to start the same stream again a few times. Xine has a small bug that makes it sometimes fail randomly when starting a Shoutcast stream.

Yo, tried that on both 'Coolstreams' and 'Shoutcast' nothing doing.

I did notice another 'error' window hiding behind the first that said:

The connection was refused for the URL:
xine parameters:

What could I try next - is there a definitive list of required plug-ins perhaps I'm missing one?

Well, Shoutcast  = MP3 stream. So make sure that you can actually play MP3 at all.

Mark,

Thanks V M.

You got me investigating a little harder!

I found that 'Kubuntu-restricted-extras' was not installed AND my Firewall seemed to be blocking the 'streams'.

I'm not sure which caused the problem, possibly both, but I will play around and note the details!!

Currently on-line and enjoying the benefits - cheers.

Yup it's the Firewall - never had that problem before. More research on Google!
