Hi!
I have a bunch of old mp3-s which I ripped a long long time ago. They have a rather low bitrate. That is why I recently ripped the songs again, but this time with better settings and higher quality. What I want to do now is replace the old mp3-s with new ones, but to keep statistics. So, right now, I am not really sure as how to proceed... Here are some more specific questions: 1) Is that possible? And if it is: 2) Do the new filenames have to match the old ones to keep the old statistics? 3) Do the new tags need to match the old ones perfectly to keep the old statistics? Thanks in advance |

Generally, I'd suggest you simply try it with one song, and see what the result us.
Technically though I'm not sure it's gonna work, since Amarok also keeps a checksum for each track, used by the "Amarok File Tracking" system.

I've got the same question PLUS I'm currently replacing MP3 files by FLAC versions.
Is there a way to keep statistics? Amarok 1.4.x / Amarok 2? Cheers |

No, if you transcode the files, the checksum is going to change. Then Amarok will see them as different files.
You'd need to hack the database directly to re associate the stats with the new files.
