Dedicated Amarok fan here but with a problem:
I run Amarok in Linux Mint and/or Ubuntu/Kubuntu. In theses distros I find that Amarok is lightning fast when I am on a new install, but the more I use Amarok, it gets slower and slower. My music archive is one big folder - 4000 mp3's. Now after a couple of weeks use, Amarok takes 5-10 seconds to change songs in a playlist. I sometimes enable cross-fading but now there is no point, because it is so slow. I once ran PCLOS and Amarok did not have the same problem. But it seems that as soon as it is GNOME, I get these speed problems over time. In the end it gets so slow that I give up. What is the reason for this slow down - All other apps run fine and system does not have speed problems in general. I think it relates to the database. Any ideas? I am currently on Linux Mint 4.0, ATI graphics, 80GB HDD HP DV8000 laptop. thanx for all input. |

Well do you put all of your songs in your current playlist?
