Hi. I was directed to this place from the Ubuntu Forums. For the past few weeks, ever since there was an update for KDE files (sorry, I don't remember the details), Amarok (and other KDE apps) never load when I click the menu item or start them from the terminal.

Here's the error that I get...

Code: Select all
 amarok
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 158
  Major opcode:  146
  Minor opcode:  3
  Resource id:  0x0
Failed to open device
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 158

Amarok: [Loader] Starting amarokapp..
Amarok: [Loader] Don't run gdb, valgrind, etc. against this binary! Use amarokapp.
amarokapp: error while loading shared libraries: libkutils.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

What have I tried so far?

Purge and reinstall.

Install the following files.

Code: Select all
kdelibs kdelibs4c2a kdelibs-bin kdelibs-data

Rename the amarok folder in ~/kde/share/apps.

None of them helped.

I used Amarok mostly to listen to internet streams.

I'd appreciate any help.

Well... find out what provides this library, and make sure it's installed. Sorry I can't tell you which package it is right at this moment - someone else might be able to

Try installing the kdelibs-dev package (the package name might be similar).
Or make a symlink from libkutils.so to libkutils.so.1 (libkutils.so should be included in kdelibs package)
