Hi everyone,

I am new to Linux and Amarok. I am using ELive (Debian based) and have installed Amarok. The software seems to work fine at least as far as playing music when I open files.

My media collection is shared on the network from a mac computer via windows share (SMB) and the share works fine, I can access the files via my xp machine. On the ELive machine I get it to mount automatically via the fstab file with fmask=777, dmask=77 and rw options. I can access the files fine via terminal or file browser software.

When I manually add an MP3 file into Amarok it plays it with no problem, however, when I try to build my collection by choosing the mounted folder as my music folder it hangs after a while saying that the operation takes too long. I do have quite a big collection but still...

Any ideas how to have my music folder shared over an SMB drive and still having Amarok able to have my collection built from that SMB location? Would it be better if I mount it with some other way instead of SMB?

Thanks,
