Hey,
I'm using Amarok 1.4.7 on Ubuntu (gutsy gibbon) and I have a peculiar problem with the toolbar in that it seems to be permanently stuck at the top of the screen. If I don't have Amarok in fullscreen, the toolbar is still there (see the picture for an example) and if it's in fullscreen, the toolbar appears over the titlebar which causes some funny flickering. Anyone know what I might do to restore the toolbar to normal?

I don't understand your problem. Your screenshot looks like a perfectly normal Amarok 1.4.x.

Maybe I'm confusing the matter by saying "toolbar".
What I mean by that is the bar that has 'Engage Playlist Mode Settings ...' I think this should be under the titlebar as part of the main window like in the screenshot I'm attached here (from a different machine). In the previous example note the "toolbar" I refer to is detached from the main window at the top of the screen. Does this clarify the problem? |

it does look weird... have you played with window manager settings in some way? Detaching menu bars is usually something that's managed outside an app.

I tried playing around with some settings but nothing has made a difference. Tried reinstalling also to no effect. V. odd.

Look for settings along the lines of "os x style menus". Right-clicking on the title-bar of Amarok should give you some kind of window-specific settings menu.
Might also be worth asking around on ubuntu forums.

Solved this. As you said, in kcontrol Mac OS style menus were enabled and this is the effect of them. So turned them off and all is normal (or non-Mac'd!) Thanks
