Hi,
I have an iPod Nano Video 8G Blue that will get music transferred to it by Amarok, but when playing the music on the iPod, no cover art is shown. I have tried clicking the IPOD --> Update Artwork Button, but this does not seem to work. I have libgpod 0.6.0 and the Amarok 2:1.4.8-0ubuntu3~gutsy1 build. I created symbolic links that point to libgpod3 instead of 2. I get the full list of iPods including the newer models in the dropdown, so I know the newer libgpod library is being accessed. My sysinfo file is properly being populated with the following: ModelNumStr: xB249 FirewireGuid: 0x000A27001B1DDD89 What am I missing here to get artwork properly transferred? Thanks in advance for any help. |

Your Amarok has been compiled against libgpod 0.5.2 and thus links against libgpod.so.2. The libgpod-0.6 package provides a libgpod.so.3. But the higher version number is there for a reason: because of incompatible changes in the library's programming and binary interface. Because of this, you cannot count on anything working properly with your broken configuration.

OK, thanks for the reply. So what is the fix? Do I need to simply recompile Amarok?
If so, how do I compile Amarok against libgpod.so.3, is there a configure option needed to point to the libgpod.so.3 library? |

Just install the libgpod-foo-dev package that corresponds to your libgpod.3.so. Then, libgpod 0.6.0 will be picked up automatically when you recompile Amarok. The steps to doing this should be here: http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Download:Source

gotcha! Sounds simple enough.
OK just so I am sure, tell me if this sounds correct: 1.) Uninstall Amarok and all versions of libgpod 2.) Install libgpod dev (0.6.0) 3.) Recompile Amarok 1.4.8 Thanks again for the help! |
