Amarok refuses to see all of my collection. Sometimes it detects entire albums, but more commonly it will only "see" a couple songs from each album. I have tried switching my database to mySQL, but the problem still persists. Other programs such as exaile to seem to have no problem with my collection.
If it helps at all, I have a very large collection made up of mixed file types. |

I is more than likely the tag "album artist" in the ID3 tag. For Mix tapes, it should be "Various Artists" that way all the individual artists in the compliation show up together under a single album. look at the offending songs in a dedicated Tag editor (Kid3) and see what the album is. The missing songs may have been tagged with the same album name, but the "album artist" tag is blank.

That does not seem to be the case. It seems to miss parts of entire albums that have been tagged correctly. It just does not seem to log them into its database for some reason.

if you are missing particular file types, then check your distro info on the amarok wiki - you should find info about missing codecs.
Have you noticed whether you have an entry in your collection titled "Unknown"? Try changing the sort criteria to see whether things are just showing up in odd places. Finally, check your filenames and permissions for the missing tracks. There may be odd characters that Amarok (or more specifically, taglib) is having trouble with, or you may not have permission to access some tracks. You could check this by running amarok as a different user, or as (not recommended) root. You don't give much system information, so you probably won't get much specific help, but I'd possibly check for updates to both taglib and Amarok.

Thank you for what you information you have given so far, but the problem seems to be independent of file type and name. I've looked through my unknown section of my collection and none of the files in it are the missing files from my albums and the file type seems to have little to do with it. Amarok will get an entire m4a, ogg, or flac encoded album from one artist, then miss part of an album from a seperate artist.
As for my system information, I'm running Amarok 1.4.8 using a, at the moment, sqlite collection. Im using Kubuntu 7.10 with kde 4.0.2 but running amarok on a kde 3.5.8. As far as taglib goes, im using version 1.4-8. |

Hello.
Just wanted to add that I got the same problem. There are about 6500 music files in the directory but amarok only finds about 2000 of them. There also is no difference in file names, file types or bitrates, it's just like magus3498 described the problem. There is no error while scanning the library, it just doesn't add all the files. I'm running a recent Kubuntu 8.04 beta on KDE 4.0, amarok 2:1.4.8-0ubuntu4 and libtag1c2a 1.4-8ubuntu1. Cheers, Stefan |

dunno - check the rest of the forum for other threads about the same type of thing, and try some of the other solutions offered!
