Smart Playlists feature missing

Sat Apr 05, 2008 2:25 am
Debian sid, 2.6.24-1 kernel, Amarok 1.4.8 from Debian repo, SQLite database.

I have no Smart Playlist (SP) functionality at all.  Nothing.  In my Playlists pane, I have Playlists, Dynamic Playlists, Radio Streams and Podcasts; SP just isn't there.  If I click on the New Playlist button and choose Smart Playlist, nothing happens.

There is no error dialogue if I start Amarok from a console.  I have already tried removing Amarok, purging all my config files and reinstalling.

Why is one of my most favorite features missing? :(  I've already Googled and spent about an hour looking at search results -- nobody else seems to be having this problem.  Help!

Do you have any tracks in your collection? Sounds like a silly question, but it's possible!

If so, try a database update (from the tools menu). Smart Playlists are based on your collection contents, so if your collection building isn't finishing properly, they might not show up.

Well, there's my beloved Smart Playlists again :)  This is odd, though, because I DID have tracks in there originally -- roughly 12,000 to be exact.  *shrug*

Thanks for the help!
