I've been extracting my CDs using Sound Juicer building up my digital collection. Amarok updates its collection successfully anytime I add another directory corresponding to a CD. However, there is one particular directory that Amarok never loads -- as if it were invisible to Amarok for some reason. It's driving me nuts.
The particular CD in question is "Premiers Symptômes" by Air. There are two directories for two different CDs in the directory for the artist Air. Amarok sees one of them, but never sees "Premiers Symptômes". I thought it might have something to do with the non-English character in the name, so I removed the entire Air directory, let Amarok rebuild the collection without it, added the directory back without that one CD, and I re-extracted it with Sound Juicer again, this time changing the info to just be "Premiers Symptomes" with just ascii characters. Amarok still doesn't see it. Both Kaffeine and Rhythmbox have no problem with it and play the songs just fine. Any idea what is going on here? Thanks. |

I just figured out what was going on.
It turns out Amarok has been seeing it just fine -- but it has been categorizing it under "Various Artists" rather than the artist "Air" so I was not seeing it in the collection. One of the songs on the CD is a remix credited to another artist; apparently that's why Amarok was doing this. Doh! Never mind. |
