Let me say a big thanks for Amarok.  I use it for playing all my music these days.

I have just had to change how I rip files for Amarok to play.  I can see the file names in the left pane of Amarok to load and when the track starts, I see it briefly on the OSD, I can't see the track names in the queue in the right pane.

I used to use GRIP and latterly K3B on a linux box to rip the CDs to a NAS.  I now have to use a Mac (running "max") to rip CDs to a NAS.  (My network is segmented and it takes too long to rip the CDs to FLAC over the wireless link from where I use Amarok to play music.)

The Mac is running Leopard 10.5.2 and is saving the files to the NAS via Samba / CIFS.  The linux box used to use a NFS export on the NAS to write the files and the box running Amarok is also connected via NFS to the NAS.

Any ideas why, even though Amarok knows the files are in the queue and can flash the names up in the OSD when they start, it can't populate the queue with them - iit just shows blanks ?

Thanks in anticipation,

It looks like the track listing display being missing is coincidental to how I'm ripping them now . . .

Admittedly I have rescanned and updated the collection but now I don't see the track names of the old stuff in the queued/playing pane either.  Very strange.  I'll see if the new installation of kubuntu 8.04 has an effect when it comes out in a couple of weeks.

Ho hum,
