Hi,
I have a very boring problem with Amarok on most streams. I even took the sky.fm premium account to try to avoid it, but it didnt : When browsing my sky.fm stream list (with next/previous buttons) (Or any other net radio list) I have often the "No suitable demux plugin. This often means that the file format is not supported." error message. But if I just press again the play button, the stream plays. So, what's wrong ? According to Sky.fm, they only stream mp3, so I don't believe in a demux plugin not found. I suspect that sky.fm uses a kind of round robin between many real servers. So, it could be that a server is down, and when I press play again, I got redirected to an other server (hopefully up). So my question is why Amarok don't try a quick second time to connect to the stream if it fails the first time ? When using amarok without screen, with just klirc remote control, this is very very boring... Regards, Pivert

The streaming issue is a known xinelib bug. We can't do anything about it, but if you get used to it, it's really just a small inconvenience.
Luckily, this problem no longer exists in Amarok 2, as we have switched to using Phonon.

Thanks for the info.
If this is supportable when you have a screen, this is really annoying when used without screen as me. Because when it doesn't play, you dont know why, if you need to press play again or whatever. So my wife cannot use Amarok through the IR remote control. Will give amarok2 a try. Thanks, |
