Not to be a pain and bump this up but I am having the same problem! When I go to Setting => Configure Amarok => Media Devices. Nothing is detected. When I do an auto-detect I get the message "No new media devices were found. If you feel this is an error, ensure that the DBUS and HAL daemons are running and KDE was built with support for them. You can test this by running "dcop kded mediamanager fullList" in a Konsole window." The Ipod is mounted because I can access it and it shows up in Rhythmbox. I seem to be having the exact same issue as the original poster. I have a 6th generation 120 GB Ipod. I am running Ubuntu 8.10 (Gnome). I installed Amarok in the package manager and everything else seems to work on. Did anyone ever get this issue resolved?? Thanks!
