Hello i am trying to connect my e280 to amarok.

i am using ubuntu 8.4 and when i connect the player to the pc it gets immediantly recogniced as a mp3 player and is displayed with an appropiate symbol on the desktop. but when i press connect in amarok i just get an window asking for a pre connect command or something like that.
what do i have to do to connect?
i am an absolute newbee when it comes to linux so please be gentle if that is a stupid question and i am missing something important.
