I've got all my music on an external usb drive that is always mounted to the same mount point, but is not always connected to my laptop.
I can scan in my collection and see it in amarok. I can even close and reopen, unmount and remount the usb drive a couple of times to test and it seems to detect initially when the drive is not connected (nothing shows in the collection) and connected (collection shows). But at random intervals (no difference whether I have the "watch folders" checked or not) the collection will just stop showing. When I go to Settings - Collection the original filesystem location which was checked is no longer checked. My only option at this point is to rescan the entire collection, which used to take several hours, now it is considerably faster for some reason but it still takes 10-20mins. Needless to say, this is very annoying! Any ideas/recommendations? I'm using the sqlite database on debian unstable with amarok 1.4.9.1 for kde 3.5.9. |

A followup to this bug... I even tried setting up a collection on my own hard drive (always connected) and even this collection is randomly cleared, disappearing from both the collection window and even in the Collection settings window where a directory that was checked yesterday has magically become unchecked today.
Any recommendations! Please! This is the only program that (a) is semi stable (b) has a halfway decent interface and (c) can interect with my ipod. But if it can't even keep track of my music collection this makes it (d) a complete deal breaker! |

Is this consistent and reproducable? Does using a fresh config make any difference? Does the state of any other settings you change appear to not be saved either? Has the problem only appeared with this version?

> Is this consistent and reproducable?
It happens a lot, but seemingly at random. Sometimes I start amarok and my collection is there, othertimes it's gone. Then I need to rebuild the whole thing again. > Does using a fresh config make any difference? Never tried. I'll give that a shot next time. > Does the state of any other settings you change appear to not be saved either? Nope, everything else is as I set it up to be. > Has the problem only appeared with this version? I've only been using amarok since 1.4.8 but it's been a problem since the beginning. |
