How to connect to an ipod

Sat May 31, 2008 5:08 pm
hi

i have amarok on my eeepc. i would like to plug in my ipod so that i can transfer music to it from my eeepc. however, when i plug my ipod in amarok does not see it. i have used the settings tab to add a media device called IPOD. i have installed libgpod 0.3.0. however, i also get a message that amarok cannot find libgpod.so.3. after a custum insatll the libraries for libgpod are in /usr/local/lib with the right permissions.
how do i configure amarok so that i can transfer music from amarok to my ipod?
do i need another plugin?

thanks for any help

As far as I know the version of Amarok on the eee pc is quite old, 1.4.3 or so. And probably the version of libgpod is just as old as well. However, if you want to use an ipod model which is not older than about a year (Classic, Touch, Nano 3G), at least libgpod 0.6.0 is required. And your version seems to 0.3.0. Could that be the root of your problem?

thanks for your input martin and dangle. i am currently using slax. the ipod mounting works fine in the eeepc default xandros system, however would like to switch to slax and want to get everything working first. i can now mount the ipod in slax however, it does not mount automatically. i need to go to amarok settings manually everytime i want to mount.
therefore it would be good to know how i can mount my device automatically to /mnt/ipod in amarok. is it a kde issue?

thanks for all your help
