Skipping/stopping when playing files over Wi-Fi and using USB sound device

When playing music with the Amarok player I have the problem of the music stopping for 1 or 2 seconds maybe every 10 seconds. It happens only when I listen to music files on a server that I access over Wi-Fi and at the same time use my Logitech Music Anywhere USB transmitter to send the sound from the PC to my stereo, i.e. it does not happen if I listen to music on the server via the built-in sound card or if I listen to music via the USB device if the music files are stored locally on the PC. Maybe I have reached the limits of the capacity of the small PC (Asus Eee PC701 running default Xandros Linux), when having it to work both with the Wi-Fi and the USB sound device, but hopefully there is a solution where I maybe can tweak the appropriate buffers. Before realizing that the problem was connected to the USB sound device, I increased the sound buffers to a maximum, maybe there are similar buffers for dealing with the USB sound device? So far I have increased the buffers in the following ways:
- I have set the priority of the music player to high and the highest settinig for the sound buffer in control center using advanced mode - I have changed the value of engine.buffers.audio_num_buffers from 230 to 10000 in ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/xine-config Does anyone know if there may be a buffer for the USB sound device that can be optimized as well? Difficult for me to realize if the sound stops from the server to the PCof from the PC to the stereo via the USB. If not, would the problem be less likely to occur if I use a Wi-Fi device for sending the sound to the stereo or would I have a similar problem, maybe someone has tried this? If this is a way to go, does anyone have any recommendations for a simple device for transmitting sound to the stereo over Wi-Fi? Simple but with good sound! |
