My version of Amarok (1.4.9.1) crashes all too frequently. I am running it using Ubuntu 8.04 and when I try to play music files about 35% of the time the application simply freezes. It is hard to believe that this program even made it out of the gate if it froze simply playing music. Thus, I am wondering if maybe it has anything to do with processes I am running. Has anyone seen similar behaviour and fixed it by simply not running certain applications at the same time? I have noted a couple other posts mentioning this problem with the response that Amarok is working on 2.0. Does this mean we just have to wait until then? Too bad, because the interface is absolutely amazing with this program and I am loath to switch to another. Thanks!

Same thing here... I don't see any fixes (certainly no replies to your message), either. VERY frustrating.

Possibly not a problem with other processes, although it could perhaps be something to do with your installation. It would pay to check for updates to Amarok dependancies.
Depends what you mean by freezing, too - is Amarok hard-locking and not using any system resources, or is it running away with resources and bringing your whole system to a standstill? Some things could cause Amarok to *appear* to freeze, or at least become unresponsive, but should eventually recover. these would usually be file indexing utilities or similar that perform a lot of drive access. Another performance issue I ran into for a while was low-latency settings in the kernel making Amarok sluggish, but I haven't had any particular problems with freezing except under specific circumstances which have since been fixed. Have you tried running Amarok as a different user to your normal one? This can sometimes help pinpoint problem areas.
