Playlists: Verifying Files Too Often

Hi Everyone,

I'm using Amarok 1.4.9.1 on Kubuntu 8.04.  My collection is a few hundred gig on an external usb drive, I'm using MySQL for indexing, and I have about 50 defined playlists, and about 100 imported.

Whenever I open the playlist tab, Amarok accesses my disk for a minute or so, slowing down my system.  Even after this, if I create a new playlist, it does it again. I assume it is verifying the presence of files, but I'm not sure.  How can I make this more infrequent?

Thanks
