Amarok 1.4, Hotplug and Gnome

Wed Jul 16, 2008 7:09 pm
Hi.

I use Amarok 1.4.9.1 on ArchLinux with Gnome 2.22.

When I connect my media player (a Nokia 6300 phone) via USB to the system and set it to behave like a mass storage device, Gnome will automatically mount it (it'll be mounted at “/media/Nokia 6300”, because I labeled the VFAT on the microSD-card such).

What would be the easiest (and working) way to “integrate” that device into Amarok, so that I can transfer my music files to the device?

What I tried:

  • Connect device via USB to PC
  • Select mass storage mode on the phone
  • Device has been automatically mounted to “/media/Nokia 6300
  • Started Amarok
  • Went to Settings -> Configure Amarok... -> Media Player
  • Clicked on “Gerät automatisch erkennen” (Detect device automatically)
  • A device called “sdb1” was added
  • I selected the module “Generic Audio Player” and clicked on Apply
  • Clicked on the Configure button

And then I'm sort of lost. What to enter next? I do NOT want Amarok to mount the device, because it already IS mounted. How do I tell Amarok, where the device is already mounted (where do I specify the mountpoint)?

Thanks,
Michael
