I run Amarok 3.5.7 with the xine engine version 1 framework version 29. I use this to  listen to my music and also podcasts I subscribe to. Lately I cannot listen to  podcasts that have worked in the past giving me the error "No suitable demux plugin. This often means that the file format is not supported." .  Now oddly I have listened OK to the same episodes in the past . I can't figure out what has changed but I can play the podcasts with xine, vlc, gxine etc no problem.

Any ideas where i can start troubleshooting this ?

Doh - brain seizure - I actually have Amarok 1.4.6 ! Sorry...
