I've tried to connect to my Ampache server since the alphas and it seems that some people manage to play music through the plugin... I only manage to crash Amarok the second I try to open the listing from Ampache.
Is there a guide somewhere or a way to find out why it is crashing? Or is this plugin just plain broken? The latter seems unlikely to me as I read some sites with people clainming to use it already. So what is going on? |

Firstly you need to configure your Ampache server's access control lists - the error that's crashing Amarok is probably related to these acl (at least it is on my system). There are details on how to do this on the Ampache wiki.
If that's done correctly then everything works. I would anticipate that eventually the error catching will be tidied up.

Sorry for my late reply.
I followed that guide before (at http://ampache.org/wiki/config:amarok) and it still won't work. Is there another way of finding out whats going on? Or will the next beta throw a visible error instead of a program crash? ![]() |

For the Ampache plugin to work you need the very latest Ampache version, which I think is not even released. So you probably need Ampache SVN.
This is because the Ampache guys specifically implemented an API that we Amarok guys created for Amarok 2.

Possibly, although I'm pretty sure Ampache 3.4.3 has the correct API.

I'm fairly sure I read somewhere that it has support in de latest release. I'm thinking about test driving the nightly though to see if it works...
Would it help if I try to pull Amarok from SVN to see if that helps? Or did the work on the Ampache plugin not change between 1.90 and the current SVN trunk? |

You can always make a bug report on bugs.kde.org and attach a backtrace of the crash, then we'll look at it.
But please note that for this to work your Amarok package must be built with full debug enabled.
