Hi there,
not posted for a long time here, cause I didn't use amarok for playing, because of the frustrating collection scanning. Okay here we go!
Environment:
Thinkpad T60p with
-DualCore 2.16Ghz Intel CPU
-4GB installed, 3GB useable
Collection on external USB disk, VFAT formated, ~50000 mp3 tracks, tagged with utf8 and version 2.3
The disk is mounted under /media/LANSTORE01
OpenSUSE 11.0-64bit, amarok 1.4.10, xine 1.1.15, sqlite3 3.5.7, kernel 2.6.26.5
The collection scheme is /media/LANSTORE01/music/ARTIST/ALBUM/ARTIST - TRACK.mp3

When I start the collection scan the amount of CPU time rises and rises and the progress decreases. Even after 24h the scan doesn't complete. Collection_scan.log doesn't show any errors. I remember, that the last collection.db was about 60Mb. And yes I've tried MySQL and PostgreSQL with the same (no) result. Copying the db from another installation doesn't help either. Scanning one folder (one artist) and pressing 'update collection'  doesn't do anything. So I've tried 'rescan collection' , no.
Unfortunately all scanned files are gone, if you skip the scan (by closing amarok). Amarokcollectionscanner disappears from the process list, but the progressbar still moves.
Any ideas?
Why must I rescan the collection everytime I upgrade to a minor version? That really sucks.
I've attached a screenshot with a scan running from 0 to F.

Greetings
