running amarok 1.4.10 on slackware 12.1 and KDE 3.5.9
i have my mp3s stored in a directory called "mp3," which has various subdirectories according to artist, etc. had no trouble scanning my initial collection, but i'm having trouble adding new songs. it doesn't matter where i put them, "update collection" or "rescan collection" doesn't find them. i'm actually finding the songs in /home/username/.kde/share/apps/amarok/collection_scan.files, but not in the amarok collection side-bar. update collection seems to do nothing at all. please point me in the right direction towards fixing this. |

How are you showing your collection? If it's by artist/Album, check under "Various artists" in case you have mis-tagged files. Alternatively, they might be showing under "Unknown". You can also try filtering your collection to show recent additions and see if they show up somewhere odd there.
Further: if the tracks are of a file type that amarok won't keep in the collection (.wav for example) then you won't see them in your collection, and will have to use the "Files" browser to play them.

turns out my rescan collection function seems to work only once per booting my computer.
anyone else have experience with this behavior? also, update collection seems to do *nothing*. like clicking an empty spot on the desktop. this could be the problem?

even though it feels like talking into a void, i will explain what the problem actually was:
the tags on the mp3's i was using to test the collection scanning function were all jacked with bogus information. they were actually getting scanned, but the tags for artist and song (the fields i was using to search amarok's collection) were different than the filenames (which were correct). now go have yourselves some fun, you giant voids. |
