Hi,

I have managed to get amarok to behave very well with my iPod classic except for one remaining problem. mp3fixer does a great job of correcting file lengths on transcoded files but I cannot get the changes commited to my player.

Any help much appreciated. In case I'm being an idiot here's what I'm doing:

1. load ogg tracks to playlist
2. copy file names to transfer list for media device (ipod)
3. transfer (including ogg123/lame mediated transcoding)
4. clear playlist
5. load tracks from media device into playlist
6. run mp3fixer
7. now all tracks in playlist have correct lengths but i cannot get the fixed tags back onto the media device

Thanks

Update: The problem seems to be with mp3fixer and/or taglib. No idea how to get amarok to see the right file lengths after mp3fixer has supposedly added the xing headers correctly.

Well in case this helps anyone else, the problem with file lengths is resolved by ditching mp3fixer and using vbrfix, a nice little package with gui and command line incarnations.

I'd have tried to augment the transcoding script by a final call to mp3fixer. If mp3fixer actually does fix things, this ought to have worked, too.

Thanks for the tip! This looks pretty nifty.
