[SOLVED] Not building collection

Mon Oct 27, 2008 7:22 am
Yesterday I added around 1000 tracks to my music collection and amarok stopped seeing the tracks that I already had in my collection.

After trying everything I could think of to get my collection to work again I've reinstalled Amarok. I've set up a mysql database for the collection. The problem I'm having now is that while all the tables in the database get set up, Amarok isn't putting anything in them. When I start up Amarok it just says "Please be patient while Amarok scans your music collection. You can watch the progress of this activity in the statusbar." but there's nothing in the status bar and nothing actually happens.

My setup is:
Ubuntu 8.04
gnome
Amarok 1.4.9.1 (Build Date Oct 21 2008)
files are on an external hdd

I've managed to sort this out. Once I copied all the tracks to my laptop's internal HDD and told Amarok to look for them there everything worked fine. I'm guessing something's up with my external HDD... hopefully nothing a fsck won't fix.

I still haven't worked out why everything stopped working, but I'm happy enough for now.
