I'm pretty new to Linux and even newer to Amarok. I'm trying to gradually make the move to Linux (Ubuntu) from Vista and I'm really liking Amarok. My problem is that when I go to Configure Amarok -> then Collection-> then click on Import Collection, the iTunes option as well as the Banshee and Rhythmbox options are greyed out. I have been able to add the music from my Windows partition in my iTunes folder, but I want to be able to import my iTunes library so as to transfer my ratings to Amarok. Or even if I could import my Rhythmbox library- that would be fine as I have been able to import my iTunes ratings to Rhythmbox. Can anyone tell me why these options are greyed out and how to fix it? I'm using Amarok Version 2.0-SVN-Neon Using KDE 4.1.71 (KDE 4.1.71 (KDE 4.2 >= 20081023)) on Ubuntu 8.10 dual boot with Vista, AMD 64 Athlon X2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The options are disabled because they haven't been implemented in the version you are running.
You're running bleeding edge software which hasn't been released, so you can hardly expect everything to work. In more current svn we have implemented the itunes importer, but this is designed for Amarok users on Windows/Mac, and it hasn't been used/tested for people bringing itunes collections into windows. Would be good to know if it does/doesn't work. Please update your neon build and see how that works. If the itunes importer fails and you can help us figure out why, please post a bug on bugs.kde.org. thanks |

I appreciate the quick reply. Yeah, I've tried the iTunes Importer (using Amarok in Ubuntu) on Amarok 1.4, but haven't been able to make it work. I've actually gone back and forth numerous times between 1.4 and 2.0 trying to get something to work, but so far to no avail. Maybe you can tell me - what is the easiest way to update my neon build?
