Hello,
I'm running Amarok on Suse 11. I want to be able to play mp3's with it as I use to do before I updated my system. I downloaded and installed the codecs from the opensuse site that is supposed to allow me to play mp3's. However, they still don't play. I once solved the problem by switching to the xine engine in Amarok. I have downloaded and installed xine using yast. However Xine does not appear in the Amarok's list of possible engines though (under settings/configure amarok/engine). The only option is yauap. I can play mp3's using other programs, including mplayer. But I would like to use Amarok Anyone got any suggestions as to what may need to be done? I'm still a noob at Linux. Thanks in advance. You need to install the Amarok-xine package, and xine-ffmpeg (or similar).

I found it eventually. I needed to install the xine output for amarok package. I don't know why I didn't see it because I did a search for xine in the package manager. Anyway, mp3's playing properly now, thanks.

You need to search for amarok and it will eventually show amarok-xine (openSUSE 11.0)
