I am trying to get amarok 2 recognise my ipod as a generic media device as it has rockbox installed. All amarok seems to see is an ipod. Is it possible to override this and use the ipod effectively as a rockbox device inside amarok.

I have  looked a bit more on the internet and found usb mass storage devices are not supported yet so that would rule out rockbox to the best of my knowledge

You could still sync music in "iPod" mode, but it will end up with the cryptic filenames.  Lack of UMS support has convinced me to wait for the switch to Amarok 2 for a little while.
