Hello all. I'm running Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, without KDE installed -- just enough to get Amarok going. I would like to configure the icons, colors, and widget themes that Amarok uses, but can't figure out how. Once upon a time I used kcontrol, but that is no longer an option in Intrepid. I have qgtkstyle installed and it works for lyx, but seems to have no effect on Amarok. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I've been looking and asking around for some time without success.

Thanks very much,
Andy

have a look for qtconfig - that might be enough to at least change things a little.

Thanks, but I have qtconfig-qt3 and qtconfig-qt4 set up to match my interface, and neither of them seem to affect amarok at all. I can't believe how big of a mystery this task seems to be...

Thanks, that gets me as far as changing the icon theme. It looks like maybe I could change more (colors, widget themes) with more packages installed. Does anyone know what packages these are?

Ah, didn't realise that was referring to qt4/kde4. (people, PLEASE don't assume that everyone knows what versions of things your distro comes with!!)
You might be able to get more info on KDE requirements for configuring the interface on the KDE userspace forums  -

I think what you need are the "systemsettings" and "kde-atrwork" packages. Those did it for me, I can now change Amarok's look by running systemsettings on the command line.
