Hi All,

I recently give amarok's new beta version a try (it comes with Fedora 10) with no joy. When I started to play some mp3 files the sound from my speakers was breaking up, but the worst part comes when I gave rithymbox  a try (it also comes with Fedora) to discover that it was reproducing the mp3s without any interruptions.

Since I have a set of USB headphones that's detected by Fedora as a second soundcard I tried to configure the xine settings within amarok only to discover that the options weren't there anymore.

Being an amarok user for some years now I didn't give up and I decided to build the old but stable 1.4 version from source. After compiling and installing I was very excited thinking that I was enjoy my music played by amarok one more time and like years but I was wrong again and the symptoms were the same ... For me was more thing to try to discard any hardware problems and I decided to change  the ALSA device configuration to point to my USB headset in the XINE config section. after this change bingo! I'm able to enjoy my music but only using my headsets.

The question that remains now is: what else can I do to get to the bottom of this issue?

As always your comments are highly appreciated.

Cheers

Amarok 2 uses Phonon, a KDE multimedia system. So you need to configure your audio settings in the KDE Systemsettings -> Sound -> Backend.
