Because I want an applet that suggests songs without altering my playlist. It is useful to remember similar songs you have in your collection and maybe you want to listen, or maybe not.

Also, Last.fm Radio require a subscription of €3.00 per month for users living outside the US, the UK and Germany

actually last.fm radio requires a subscription *no matter* where you live, if you want to listen from a client app.

and there is a similar artists last.fm applet that is being developed right now, should be in amarok soon.
