Hi!
First i'm really glad amarok runs on my OSX now, the installers of beta1 and 2 didnt work on my mac. I used the beta2 in vista to get connection to my ampache server, and it worked well after a bit of tweaking, now i tried the same on OSX and i get a "wrong handshake" error! did you change anything in the API for ampache or is my amarok just badly configured? i read in the ampache forums that the API gets some additions in the next version, will these be used for amarok too? questions over questions ![]()

For Amarok 2.0 you need the latest _released_ Ampache version (3.4.x). The current development version of Ampache will not work (API changes).

For the record, I've never had this working under OS X, even with release versions of Ampache. Might be something else going on, but I haven't had a chance to delve really deeply. One of these days I'll get back to testing it out!

Some more hints from my own Amarok 2 Ampache configuration:
Server: http://ampache.foo.com (needs full URL!) Username: Password: And mark as [X] Active!

About to try this, thanks markey, but with the password, if you keep the username empty, which password do you use?
edit: and would this only work if your current username is the same as the login for ampache? I'm firstly getting the error "Access Control not Enabled", although Ampache still shows a search field in the Internet panel. Typing anything in this search field results in an Amarok crash which I'll post later if I can't resolve this. As far as I know, I do have ACL enabled in Ampache:
Perhaps there's something other than that required?

It works now!
i deleted the username (and setup a ACL for all users) works perfect for me now, thanks alot! had the http before the url but it got deleted, the trick is you have to create a new ampache entry in the list in amarok, if you jst changed it and click ok the settings are not being saved! |

Not solved for me. I get as far as being prompted for a username/password if I leave both blank in Amarok (but not if I leave just username blank, and put in a password for MY ampache user).
I have a multi-user ampache server, so NEED usernames to use the service. I've set an ACL for all users, with all access (restricted on IP). I no longer get "ACL not enabled" on startup of amarok (instead get the above username/password request). Next I guess I'll try trashing preferences. I didn't seem to have the case where the "http://" disappeared though.

FWIW, we succeeded in convincing the Ampache author himself (Karl Vollmer) to cooperate closely with us, and eventually to even maintain the Ampache plugin in Amarok. So expect major improvements soon

Wish I could get online these days! Still, I'm really looking forward to being able to browse the collection via ampache rather than having to build a local collection via wireless eventually
![]() I'm still convinced there's something I haven't got configured correctly here, but I am stuffed as to where!

maybe you used the wrong password it's not the user password its the one in the ACL or did you use that?
edit: if i add a user (which is in the ACL) i get an invalid handshake error, very strange

Yeah, I use my ampache user in the ACL, and that's the password I've tried.

looks like it just doesnt work with user accounts right now. would be nice to have some stats about the user streaming, but for now it's ok for me without the user.
@dangle_wtf does it work when u leave username blank and only use the ACL pass? |
