Hello everybody

I have a problem with a notification when I start Amarok. This notification shows the following information:

phonon

The audio playback device Intel ICH5 with CMI9761A+ (Intel ICH5) does not work. Falling back to default

Can I select the device in Amarok ?

I'm use Ubuntu 8.10. If you want see the error notification in the attach file you can view it

Amarok 1.4.10 works just excelent.

But amarok 2.0 is crashing giving the signal 11 (SIGSEGV error massage):

Had the same error message. My playback did work after that though.

Weird though that it still showed the message after restarting. You guys get that too?

I also have this same error. But since I reported two others I figured I would wait for some one else to mention it.

I am trying to understand how the sound system in Ubuntu works, how to configure it, and how to build amarok so that I can help debug it.

I guess the place to start is KDevelop. It really seems like 2.0 is a very cool application, so I hate to continue to report bugs, but it's probably the only way they will get fixed.

Amarok 2 uses Phonon. To configure that, you open KDE 4's Systemsettings, then Sound -> Backend.

The xine backend is the best choice on Linux currently.

Could you pls define what to do :) Thats what i can see at the sound settings.

I have only one system module in this list. Should I add more? (xine?)

Its might important for the troubleshooting that I have sound in the applications, but the video playback has problems. The red color is missing.
(I just switched from kde3.)

Yes, you need to install the Phonon-xine package.
