Dear all,
First things first: I am using Amarok version 2.0 on Kubuntu (KDE 4.1.3); Build Date: Dec 15 2008 I am using Xine backend engine. Trying to play some mp3's. Problem: whenever I try to start amarok it asks for a server name and password. Sometimes when I drag and drop OR try to play songs then it asks for a server name and password. This behaviour is erratic. It does not display the name/title of the song, but some random numbers. Take a look at the following screenshot. http://picasaweb.google.com/kamesh419/T ... 5841860610 After that I have to continuously click for 5 times or so either OK or CANCEL. Just by pressing CANCEL it would not go away. Also the playlist does not display any title information but displays some random numbers. Take a look at the following screenshot. http://picasaweb.google.com/kamesh419/T ... 9981467810 I believe (not sure though) that this problem started when I tried to fiddle with Ampache Service. Now I have it unchecked, but still the problem persists. I also tried removing .kde/share/apps/amarok folder. But the problem still persists. I have reinstalled amarok using adept but still no luck. Can any one suggest a solution. Thanks for your time, Kamesh. |

About the password: check .kde/share/config/amarokrc. That file consists of your settings. You can open it in a text editor. Look for something related to ampache or mp3tunes. I am pretty sure you have either of those enabled and not suplied login information.

Thanks a lot nightrose. Infact that file did have some references to ampache. I removed them and every thing seems to work now. Even the random numbers are gone.
I am 100% sure that Ampache is not enabled now. But before the problem started, I did try to enable it and when it asked for a servername and password I cancelled it. I guess it still has written to amarokrc file about it without the servername and password. This is not usual behaviour and should be considered as a bug if someone else can reproduce it in their systems. Also, I have one more problem. Whenever I try and use the filter (the one shown in the following link) it crashes. Is it a known bug. Should I file a bug report or something ? http://picasaweb.google.com/kamesh419/T ... 9981467810 Thanks once again. Kamesh. |

Yes please file a bug about that if you can get a good backtrace. Make sure there isn't already one.
