No sound with amarok 2.0!

Sat Dec 20, 2008 6:34 pm
Hi everyone,

I am using Kubuntu 8.10, kde 4.1.3 and amarok 2.0.

I am also using oss instead of alsa for my sound.

With the older version of amarok, it used to work fine but now with amarok 2.0, the song is playing but I got no sound!

Does anyone has an idea?

Thanks a lot

Amarok 2 uses the phonon backend. You might want to look at phonon's configuration.

If you are using the xine Phonon backend (default in Kubuntu), just type this on the shell to get sound with MP3:

"sudo aptitude install libxine1-ffmpeg"

Hi,

thanks for your answer!

I am using xine Phonon backend. I already have the "ffmpeg" package installed on my laptop.

I just opened gxine and try to play a mp3 and it worked fine. I dont know why amarok 2 dont want....

Thanks!

You said you are using oss. I remember there is a setting in the phonon configuration dialog (visit systemsettings) that might help you.
