Looks like a packaging problem. Definitinely not normal.
I don't know what distribution you are using, but I'd recommend asking on their forums. Likely the problem is already known, and maybe a fixed package exists.

Session time out ate my post.
It seems that this is not a packaging problem or at least not a unique problem to openSUSE's packages (which I am using). I was searching for a solution and I found I also found a thread on the fedora forums (here) that suggested deleting ~/.kde4/share/config/amarok* This was the solution to the problem (now if only I can get my local collection to show up ) And since I have never really figured out bugzilla, I'm going to at least post this here: ~/.kde4/share/config/amarok-appletsrc
~/.kde4/share/config/amarok_homerc
~/.kde4/share/config/amarokrc

Hi,
deleting ~/.kde4/share/config/amarok* was the solution. amarok seems to work fine now. Thx to roasty. |

I have loaded Amarok 2.0 and when I open it, the only one I can see are the frames and the options on the upper side of page. What can be the reason? I have KDE 4.185 Beta 2.0 and Kubuntu Intrepid.

I have the same problem. I have tried deleting /usr/share/kde4/config/amarok* but it still doesn't work, I have just the same problem. I'm very new using linux so I don't really know where to start looking.
I have started amarok 2 from terminal and this is what comes out: "amarok(6797) Phonon::KdePlatformPlugin::createBackend: using backend: "Xine" Object::connect: No such slot MainWindow::showStatistics() Object::connect: (receiver name: 'MainWindow') QLayout: Attempting to add QLayout "" to MainWindow "MainWindow", which already has a layout link XMLID_7_ hasn't been detected! link XMLID_7_ hasn't been detected! What if you delete ~/.kde/share/config/amarok* ? These are your user's personal preference files. The files you deleted are (I believe) the system-wide defaults - you might need to reinstall Amarok if they don't regenerate.

Because I couldn't find it and the similar was what I deleted. If you could tell me where to find it I would be very greatfull. Amarok opens the same. |

the exact path is as I typed above. The tilde symbol, ~, is a shortcut that your system uses to make sure the current user's home directory is the location where preferences for that user are stored. It points to /home/
This is really Linux 101, so if the above means absolutely nothing to you it's time to head to the library and grab some books.

Thank you a lot. What stupid I've been! I forgot about the hidden files at home.
I got it working, thank you again. |
