Well, It's a permissions problem:
I ran Amarok as root and mp3s played perfect. So what do I have to do to get this working as myself instead of root? |

You should run 'sudo chown yournick' for the folder where your collection is located, use the -R option (after chown) to change the permissions recursively in the subfolders. Sometimes, especially if your collection is located on an external HD, mounting errors can mount a device root only.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
