Strange fonts

Sun Dec 28, 2008 7:06 pm
So I have a few artists like: "Béla Fleck and the Flecktones" as an example. I can go through and change the artist name in the play list window so that it says this for all their songs.

When I look at it in the regular library window it looks like:
"Béla Fleck and the Flecktones"
Showing that some thing's wrong with utf-8.
When I re-load it into the play-list, it takes this name, instead of the easier to read name that I originally gave it.
(This isn't the only artist, Dvořák, Björk, etc.)

I expect this has something to do with mysql, but I don't really know where to start to fix it. Any ideas?

Ok, well, what's the current version would fix it? Do you have special characters in your amarok version that show up?

I looked around and miserably failed at finding a stable deb package that would let me update. I found this one:
Code: Select all
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu intrepid main

But that's just for the highly unstable Amarok 2.

Do I need to downgrade?

unless there was an update that I missed somehow, the way it was fixed was by editing my:
.kde/share/config/amarokrc
file.

I screwed around with the fonts, trying to make them smaller, and fixed the unicode problems. (which doesn't make much sense since it was sometimes working and sometimes not)

Weird.
