Formerly I Used Xubuntu 8.04 with Amarok 1.4.9. No Problem.
Before Change To Xubuntu 8.10 with Amarok 1.4.10 I saved the 'collection.db' (for restoring). A first initial scan for a new collection with Amarok 1.4.10 worked and could be used for playing my music. The tab ' collection' presented the whole collection. After 'realy' closing Amarok I restored my saved 'collection.db' back to the right place and replaced my first-scan-collection.db. No entry under the tab 'collection'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Formerly this procedure worked very well. Other format of database? What can I do? Most of all I want to obtain my scoring of titles and playcount. Any suggestions? Dieter Grohn |

It should not be necessary to to your backup-and-restore strategy on minor updates (e.g., 1.4.x to 1.4.y). It should (it always does for me) work out of the box.

I solved the problem with a rescan (hint from other topic in the forum).
Once more: Shutdown Amarok., restore old database (if necessary overwrite a new database). Start Amarok. Do a rescan. Database should be repaired / updated by rescan. Dieter Grohn |

Just to emphasize it again: You do not need to touch any of the amarok config files when doing a minor (e.g., 1.4.x to 1.4.y) upgrade.
And I heard that even Amarok 2 will import your Amarok 1.4 collection for you. So no need to do any manual file copying! |

Only for clarification:
I installed the whole system from 'scratch' (format partition, new xubuntu and new Amarok) for other reasons. So Amarok could't find any old config- or data-file. Therfor I did the first scan (maybe not necessary) and restored the saved database afterwords. Thanks! Dieter Groh |
